While Battle Royale takes its second crack at Christmas, Fortnite Save the World's Frostnite event continues unabated.
Two new weapons make up the meat of this week's Content Update, which introduces The Popshot Shotgun, seen above, and Santa’s Little Helper, seen below. Epic bills the Popshot as a "rapid firing low capacity semi-auto shotgun," which can be earned by completing the new, second weekly Frostnite challenge mission, "Burn Bright." At least, we're pretty sure that's how you get it. Epic's patch notes list the Popshot under the section devoted to information about Burn Bright, but then say that the gun is a "Weekly Frostnite Challenge 1 Quest" reward.
This is almost certainly a typo, as it also lists "Challenge Banner 2" as one of the rewards, and that would only be granted by the second weekly challenge. Besides, Weekly Challenge 1, "Slip Out," already has rewards, including Challenge Banner 1 and the Tree of Light sword. So! Probably just needless confusion due to a typo, but we wanted you to have all the facts, just in case.
Meanwhile, Santa’s Little Helper arrives in the weekly store tomorrow night, January 9 at 7 p.m. Eastern, as required by state and local ordinances. This rocket launcher is unique in that it does not use or consume ammunition when firing, but Epic warns that it has "very low durability," so depending on how expensive it is to craft, it may be more of a novelty than something actually useful.
And that's it! Tune in next week for the first proper patch since before the holidays, whenever that happens!
